Happy New Year! Can I still say that even though we are already halfway through January?
I took a poll recently to see if you, my wonderful readers, would like to see the books I’ve read for 2020. Well, here you go! Thanks to the pandemic and staying home, I read 24 books in 2020. I will admit that this post would be much better if I could share a review for every book I’ve read, but maybe better luck next year 😉 .
I’ve done my best to put these books in very loose categories. I say that because I am a HUGE fan of “chick-lit,” so almost every book I read has some type of love story.
Let’s get started!

Beach Reads
You could also call this a sub category of romance, so no wonder it’s the biggest category ;). I also did not read any of these on the beach, but they would be perfect for it!
28 Summers – Elin Hilderbrand. Hands down, my favorite book of the year!
All Summer Long – Dorothea Benton Frank
Hello, Summer – Mark Kay Andrews. She is a favorite author of mine for great summer reads!
Paradise Series: #1 Winter in Paradise, #2 What Happens In Paradise, #3 Troubles in Paradise – Elin Hilderbrand.
Summer Rental – Mary Kay Andrews
Sunset Beach – Mary Kay Andrews
Drama
Alternate Side – Anna Quindlen. This might have been my least favorite…
The Lies That Bind – Emily Giffin. This one has mixed reviews, but is easily my favorite I’ve read from Emily in a while!
Little Fires Everywhere – Celeste Ng. A very unpopular opinion I’m sure, but I didn’t really like this book!
Something She’s Not Telling Us – Darcy Bell
Whisper Network – Chandler Baker
Friendship
Best Friends Forever – Jennifer Weiner. I thought this was a little slow.
Little Earthquakes – Jennifer Weiner
Sweet Magnolia Series: #1 Stealing Home & #2 Slice of Heaven – Sherryl Woods. Also a series on Netflix!
Holiday
I love Christmas and holiday themed books during the winter. These are both cute, easy reads!
Christmas Bliss – Mary Kay Andrews
A Match Made at Christmas – Courtney Walsh. Think Hallmark as a book 🙂
Romance
Eligible – Curtis Sittenfeld. This is categorized as a modern retelling of Pride & Prejudice and I loved it!
Lies & Other Acts of Love – Kristy Woodson Harvey. I love everything Kristy writes and this is no exception! This book could easily fall in to “drama” and “friendship.”
From Manhattan with Love Series: #4 New York, Actually, #5 Holiday in the Hamptons, #6 Moonlight Over Manhattan – Sarah Morgan. You don’t need to read books 1,2, or 3 to enjoy these. I love Sarah’s series!
So there you have it – 2020 in the books! I don’t have a set goal to read each year, because you never know what life is going to throw at you. Do you have a goal? I would absolutely LOVE your book suggestions in the comments below!
Happy reading!

I was hoping to hear that the book “Little Fires Everywhere” was good. I liked the show with Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon. I hope to read more books this year. Thanks for the suggestions.
You may like it! I wasn’t sure what to expect and it just wasn’t my style of book. I do want to watch the show!
Good luck with reading more this year!

Thanks for all of these suggestions. I haven’t read any of these, yay!
Enjoy!!
Great suggestions! I got out of the habit of reading at night and really miss it!
