Here it is, my yearly post recapping the books I read for the year. Only, this post is 7 months late – oops! I’ve been meaning to write it and every time I sit down, something else takes priority. 2023 was definitely a year for the books! We welcome our sweet baby boy in August and life has been non-stop since then! More to come on him later 🙂 Now, let’s get to it!
I’ve tried to break these down in to genres, but there are a few that could go in multiple categories. Click each image or link to get your copy of the book!
Beach Reads
Beach Read – Emily Henry
Happy Place – Emily Henry
Summer of Songbirds – Kristy Woodson Harvey. This might not exactly be a “beach read,” but it’s a great summertime book! Read my full review here.
The Rumor and 5 Star Weekend both by Elin Hilderbrand – the queen of beach reads!
Drama
The It Girl – Ruth Ware – A murder mystery
The Housekeeper – Joy Fielding – suspenseful!
It Starts With Us – Colleen Hoover. This is a follow up to Colleen’s It Ends With Us. Honestly, I didn’t love it, but I’d say it’s still worth a read.
Nantucket Nights – Elin Hilderbrand. This could qualify as a beach read, but there was definitely more mystery and drama in this book.
Holiday
A Wish for Winter – Viola Shipman
Bright Lights Big Christmas – Mary Kay Andrews
Romance
Dreamland – Nicholas Sparks
Happiness for Beginners – Katherine Center. I had a hard time categorizing this one. It’s a feel good book about starting over and was made in to a Netflix movie. Worth a watch!
Maybe Someday – Colleen Hoover
My Magnolia Summer – Victoria Benton Frank
Lucy Score’s Knockemout Series – #1 Things We Never Got Over, #2 Things We Hide From the Light, and #3 Things We Left Behind (my favorite!) This series is STEAMY, but oh so good! It follows two adult brothers and their childhood bestfriend, their love lives, and trials they encounter along the way.
Self-Help
Expecting Better and Crib Sheet – Emily Oster. I would HIGHLY recommend Expecting better for 1st time moms!
Moms on Call 0-6 Months – Laura Hunter and Jennifer Walker – Another book that I would highly recommend. I literally slept with this on my nightstand, or in the bed, and would reference it in the middle of the nigh when Grayson was a newborn – LOL!
How to Raise A Puppy You Can Live With – Clarice Rutherford – Daisy seemed to turn out fine, so it must have been somewhat helpful!
There you have it – 2023 in the books, finally! 2024 has been a slow year of reading for me. I’m only on my 8th book, so I’m barely averaging one per month. I’m hoping it will pick up, soon!
If you have read, or end up reading any of these books, let me know which ones are your favorites.
Thanks for sticking with me!
