I have been reading a ton of books this year, but haven’t had the time to do a review recently. Well, the time has come and I wanted to share a review of The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. This book easily makes it into my top five for the year. I absolutely loved it!
This story follows two main characters – Hannah Brooks, a professional bodyguard who’s at the top of her field, and movie star, Jack Stapleton.
Hannah has been having a tough time recently after her mother’s death and then a break up. She is desparately looking for a way to escape her home state of Texas. Meanwhile, Jack has been off the radar for a couple of years due to a tragic accident, but recently relocates to Texas to be near his ill mother. With Jack’s mega star status, his agency believes he is in need of a bodyguard, and Hannah’s boss assigns her to be the lead agent on the case. While this isn’t the escape Hannah had in mind, she decides to go for it.
Once Hannah and Jack meet, I couldn’t put the book down! It probably helped that we were in an airport/on a plane for 12+ hours trying to fly home from Texas (ha!), but I loved how the story and characters developed from here.
If you need an escape and something a little more lighthearted to read, I promise The Bodyguard is the book for you. This book had me smiling, laughing, and shedding a tear like my favorite RomCom would. I’d love for The Bodyguard to be made into a movie and I can definitely picture Chris Evans as Jack Stapleton!
This is the first novel I’ve read by Katherine Center and there’s no doubt that I’ll be reading more. Click the image below to pick up your copy of The Bodyguard!
