Hey y’all!
It’s been a while since I’ve done a book review. I’m a little slower at reading this year with baby boy Rhodes on the way! But, I recently finished “The Summer of Songbirds” by Kristy Woodson Harvey and I couldn’t wait to tell you about it!
Kristy’s latest novel tells the story about how lifelong friends Daphne, Lanier, and Mary Stuart come together to save their beloved summer camp – Camp Holly Springs.
Daphne’s aunt, June, bought the camp many years ago in the midst of a personal tragedy. The girls, (The Songbirds) Daphne, Lanier, and Mary Stuart, met on their very first day of camp nearly 30 years ago.
When Daphne, Lanier, and Mary Stuart learn of June’s financial situation and how she might lose this camp that means so much to them, the Songbirds rally together to come up with a plan.
Also, amongst the mission to save Camp Holly Springs, we get to follow along with the love lives of each Songbird. Kristy does a fantastic job, as always, telling the story of each character’s lives and weaving everything together. She made me feel like I was a Songbird, too!
I would LOVE to see a continuation of The Summer of Songbirds. It has the potential to be like The Peachtree Bluff series which is another favorite of mine from Kristy.
The Summer of Songbirds is a MUST read for the summer! Pack it in your beach bag, or curl up on the sofa – you won’t regret it!
Happy reading!
