Ahhhh! It’s hard to believe the day we’ve been planning for 14 months is THREE DAYS AWAY! Let’s be real though, the day I’ve been planning my whole life 🙂
For today’s Wedding Wednesday post, I wanted to do something a little different and let you hear from both Taylor and me on the planning process and our engagement! We answered these questions separately, so it was fun for me to read Taylor’s answers!
Here we go!
What has been your favorite part of your engagement?
T: My family’s lake house is very special to us. We got engaged at the top of a mountain nearby. When Covid first shut everything down, we spent a full month up there working from home together with my brother and his girlfriend.
K: My favorite part of our engagement has been being home! We got sent home from work four days after our engagement due to the pandemic and haven’t gone back full time since then. I’ve really enjoyed planning and with us both working from home, it’s been easier to include Taylor in the decisions and conversations.
What has been your favorite detail of the wedding to plan?
T: Picking the Band was a lot of fun! We listened to a bunch of promo videos with my family at the lake. We’re all really excited about The Root Doctors, whom we ultimately chose after quite a few margaritas.
K: This is a hard one for me to answer because I’ve loved so much of it! I am going to have to go with planning the florals with my planner and our florist, Green Bee Floral Designs. I can’t wait to see how everything comes together and to share pictures here!
What has been the most difficult part of wedding planning?
T: Managing all of the different things that need to get done. I don’t know if we would’ve gotten everything done if we didn’t work from home.
K: The most difficult part for me has definitely been planning a wedding during the pandemic. For months, we were so unsure what was going to happen and have known many friends who have totally changed their wedding date, etc. I am a perfectionist in some ways and I wanted everything to be correct when sending out invitations. I am sure my mom and Taylor were both tired of hearing me give daily COVID guideline updates! We did have to make a venue change two months out which lead to reducing our guest count, but we were able to keep our same wedding date.
What are you looking forward to most on wedding day?
T: Seeing Kristie in her dress for the first time and sharing the special day with the people that we love!
K: I’m looking forward to my first look with Taylor! I hope he cries 😉 (he never does!) I also am really looking forward to being surrounded by our family and friends who love us and who are there to support us.
What are you most nervous about for the big day?
T: That we forgot about something when we were planning. I don’t think we did but how would you know until it happened!
K: The weather! Our location is all outdoors in a tent, so I am praying that our buried bourbon works its magic!
How do you think you’ll feel once the day is over?
T: I know we will be exhausted but I’ll also be stoked for our honeymoon, and then we get back just in time for my best friend to get married. It’s going to be a big month!
K: Exhausted, but on cloud 9. I will probably also feel a little frantic because we are leaving for our honeymoon on Monday and I always wait until the last minute to pack!
Do you have any advice to give to other couples planning a wedding?
T: You might be able to save some money here and there by doing it yourself but it will also create a lot more work for you to do and logistics to figure out. Thankfully, we had a wedding planner and families who were very helpful throughout! Also, don’t feel bad about making self serving decisions. You won’t be able to make everyone happy and everyone will have an opinion. Ultimately, the day is about you and your spouse. Keep perspective that the marriage is what is most important – not the wedding itself.
K: Hire a wedding planner! Whether you have someone to help you for the entire journey, partial, or the weekend only, I would 100% recommend getting a planner or coordinator. At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted a planner because I wanted to be involved in a lot of the decisions and planning. I am SO happy we’ve had Carly from Carly Marie Events with us through almost our whole journey. Your planner will think of things you never thought to ask and a million other little details that may slip your mind. She or he will help keep everything organized for you so that you don’t have to stress on the most important day!

That’s a wrap!
Thanks for following along with me in my Wedding Wednesday series! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the posts as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them.
I plan to continue to post about our wedding, but it won’t be as frequent. We will get back to our regularly scheduled programming 😉
I can’t wait to show you all of our amazing phots and tell you about our big day!
Cheers!
